This neat little carbine is in the standard saddle ring carbine configuration complete with original saddle ring, carbine buttplate, barrel band, folding ladder carbine rear sight and carbine front sight. This is a crisp carbine that locks up tightly, the action is smooth, half-cock is strong with an excellent, bright bore. This rifle shows honest wear with no abuse. There are no cracks in the wood, pits in the metal or extra holes in wood or metal. The metal has had no alterations to the finish. The receiver is gray/brown with some shadow from the saddle ring. There is bright blue on the original loading gate. The receiver likely has less finish due to the high nickel content on these later manufactured 92's. The barrel blue is mostly all there, just turning slightly plum colored - which would be expected for a 96 year old gun. The wood is walnut and quite pleasing. The forearm wood is proud where it meets the front of the receiver. The buttstock is flush with the buttplate and very slightly low at the toe. The lower tang is mostly flush with the wood and the upper tang wood is slightly below the metal with a very tiny chip at the right upper corner. Again, very pleasing wood appearance, as is the overall appearance of this well-operating and well-cared for carbine.
